There’s nothing more necessary than a wind and water resistant layer in a men’s outdoor winter wardrobe—that’s why the Ascender Softshell Jacket exists. Columbia’s lightweight, winter-ready jacket is the ultimate warmth provider and an everyday style piece.

Crafted of our durable 100% polyester shell, this Ascender Softshell Jacket is the perfect layering piece and first line of defense to combat the cold. It contains a modern classic fit with adjustable features that allow for comfortable movement and zippered side pockets to keep your small items (including your hands) secure. An added bonus is the warm collar that’s flexible so you can choose whether you want to wear it up or down, depending on your desired level of toastiness.

Our lightweight, softshell jacket is available in many accommodating sizes and colors as well. To ensure the size you choose is right, utilize our sizing chart and the following measurement instructions: For the sleeves, start at the center back of your neck and measure across the shoulder and down to the sleeve. If you come up with a partial number, round up to the next even number. For the chest, measure at the fullest part of the chest, under the armpits and over the shoulder blades, keeping the tape measure firm and level.

So I wanted to get a second one to wear everywhere except the trail and keep the dirty one for the backwoods. Unfortunately, My house…

Size differences between Ascender & Ascender II I just purchased both the Ascender and Ascender II jackets in Large-Tall to compare the fit and feel between the two. I am 6′ 2″ and about 220 pounds, on a middle ground between wearing standard size and tall size clothes. Here are the differences I noticed:- The upper body of the Ascender II is much…

I have tried to fold it over in the collar and have it sort of sit flat like a lapel, but it doesn’t quite stay flat and always raises back up over time.My main comment to…
