Good rain protection, but a delicate garment. I’ve had 2 Marmot Precip jackets. Living in San Diego, I only get a few opportunities to wear them a year. So they spend 99% of their life in a closet. Yet, after about a year the white coating on the interior disintegrates and suddenly there are white flakes everywhere. I know $99 isn’t a lot of money in the outdoor jacket world, but I have similar light rain jackets that haven’t disintegrated in the closet. Interior of jacket is disintegrating Interior lining of jacket is quickly disintegrating. I have only used the jacket about five times and began noticing the lining tearing in a small area, now it is torn in multiple areas only after gentle use. Possibly I got a fake. None the less have to buy another.

Not bad for a jacket worn and used where the average … This is my second PreCip jacket. Old one lasted 15 years before losing it’s waterproof ability in a couple areas. Not bad for a jacket worn and used where the average rainfall is above 60 inches a year. And it was/is often worn as an outer wind blocking layer also. Packs light and small, very nice when camping and hiking, which we do a lot of. Breathability seems the same as the old one, and is excellent.
